Frequently Asked Questions
Are your products really made by hand?
Yes. Every piece is made by hand in my workshop in Wiltshire using traditional hand tools.
Will I receive the exact item shown?
Yes. Unless otherwise stated, the photographed item is the exact one you'll receive.
Why are no two spoons identical?
Wood is wonderfully varied.
Every tree grows differently, meaning each spoon has its own grain, colour and character.
Does wood change over time?
Yes.
Wood continues to respond to humidity and temperature throughout its life.
With time, your spoon will develop a beautiful natural patina through regular use.
How should I care for my spoon?
Hand wash only
Never soak in water
Never place in the dishwasher
Occasionally apply a food-safe mineral oil or beeswax finish
What finish do you use?
Every piece is finished using food-safe oils and/or waxes suitable for kitchen use.
Do you accept commissions?
Absolutely.
If you have something in mind, I'd love to hear from you.
Do you use sustainably sourced wood?
Wherever possible, yes.
I enjoy working with locally sourced timber and wood that has been responsibly obtained.
Why are handmade spoons more expensive?
Each spoon is made entirely by hand.
From splitting the log, roughing with an axe, carving with knives, refining and finishing, every stage takes time and care.
You're not simply buying a spoon, you're investing in a unique piece of craftsmanship.
